Properties of PVC sheeting

PVC sheeting is primarily known for two types of applications. In its hard form it is mainly used for consumer applications, and in its soft form it is usually used as PVC pond liner in fish ponds, water basins or for rainwater storage. It is ideal for these applications as it is frost-resistant and fish- and plant-friendly. We also sell this soft type at EKI, however, it is used by our customers for other applications. PVC sheeting is suitable for use at low temperatures and is very weather resistant, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. At higher temperatures it is better to use EPDM membrane because PVC has a tendency to shrink when used at higher temperatures. The material is resistant to UV, ozone and ageing, and is very durable. It is also water repellent, slowly flame retardant and has strong mechanical properties. Because PVC is easy to work with and universally applicable, at EKI we can cut it into various shapes such as rolls and straps. We supply this black sheeting either unglued, or with one or two self-adhesive sides, and mainly in thicknesses of 0.5 mm and 1 mm. PVC sheeting can be attached by stapling (in the case of the unglued version) or mounted by means of the self-adhesive side(s).

PVC sheeting applications

The PVC sheeting we sell at EKI is mainly processed into PVC tape and then used as anti-corrosion tape. For example, this can be used as a buffer between two metals, such as aluminium frames, to prevent oxidation. It can also be used as a water-repellent lining for foundations, window frames and in cavity walls. The material can also be used as roof membrane. If the film is affixed to another material, such as polyurethane foam or PVC foam, it provides better tear resistance. Of course, it can also be used as PVC pond liner, although this is not what we sell the material for.
